Note that Microsoft does something similar with its SmartScreen service, *but* they also correctly respect the presence of EV Digital Signatures on the files and whitelist these automatically. The only workaround is to send them an explicit request to whitelist a new version before it's made available to anyone using their security products. This is their take on "reputation-based" white listing, but I am frankly not sure how many half-brains they needed to pool together to design it this way. exe file IF it hasn't yet been seen by a sufficient number of Symantec's users. Norton Security line of Symantec products has a very poorly thought-through feature whereby they flag or even silently remove an. ⦁ Added support for pre-seeding and migrating backups ⦁ Added support for retrying on errors during the scan phase ⦁ Changed the engine to run under its own account in service mode ⦁ Added preliminary support for media and device ejection Important changes from later 76.xx releases ⦁ Resolved an issue with timestamp and attribute matching filters ⦁ Resolved an issue with scanning empty locations at a device root ⦁ Revised UI wording in several places for clarity ⦁ Added new "Welcome" mini-guide for the first-time users ⦁ Added support for using pre-backup commands as conditions ⦁ Added support for vendor quirks to the device tracking module ⦁ Added support for Windows Image Container reparse points ⦁ Added "Symantec" mode for built-in update checks ⦁ Added support for upgrading from Personal to Professional license Of course he has the right to do whatever he wants with his product, but I don't think that his attitude towards the testers is the nicest one.⦁ Log viewer improvements, including an errors-only mode I am sure the author is getting a lot of useful information by the testers about bugs and crashes and yet he is not willing to give even these Beta releases for free with no limitations. So it means this is not exactly freeware, freeware means no restrictions, no registrations, no license keys, total freedom of use, and this is not the case here. For example, if I re-install Windows and meanwhile Bvckup has become shareware, I won't be able to use the old Beta version again, because after installation the program requests obtaining an registration key from the server which I would not be able to get after Bvckup becomes shareware. The author of this application says that "The beta is free, it has no restrictions or limitations and the beta license is non-expiring.", but is that true? I don't think so. While executing the backup it does not show which files will be synchronized- it shows only the number of entries to be written in the destinatiion directory. It still misses some features- for example it cannot compare two directories before any backup task is performed. But it still needs a lot of work- it is a bit unstable, while uninstalling it crashed Explorer so I got my Quick Launch icons re-arranged and the uninstall process was a slow one (I tested it on XP SP3). NET Framework (I stopped using PureSync because of that), it is fast. It has a nice, clean and simple GUI, which is quite rare nowadays, it is not written in. Bvckup has the potential of becoming a very good backup application. ![]()
